LaunchPads 1.4 an amazing application with tons of functionality

June 2nd, 2008 by Jorge Ledesma

Well I’m sure you’ve heard of the movie “Jewel of the Nile” remember that, Michael Douglas in an Indiana Jones knockoff kind off but nevertheless very entertaining, well guess what Saturday, surfing around I came upon LaunchPads 1.4 at Mobihand.com, well I contacted the developer to trial the application and that’s how I met Fabian Heuwieser. Fabian’s a great developer who develops simple but highly effective blackberry applications, I would put his application under the “Utilities” categories and what a wonderful surprise. Launchpads, is a utility that lets you jump to the native Blackberry PIMs easily and as a bonus, you know how much of a pain in the butt it its to launch the native task PIM, click menu, click new, and then start typing, well in comes Launchpads to the rescue, launch launchpads via a side-key and hit the “T” and launchpads will open the native blackberry task application and you’re ready to start entering your task, pretty amazing and pretty efficient, but it gets better, Launchpads give you that ability with all the Blackberry PIM, contacts, calender, task, and memos. Well as if this was not enough, LaunchPads also let’s you SMS someone in about 1/2 sec from any application, it also let’s you set up an email you use frequently, and for the big super duper option it also let’s you launch any other application that’s on your blackberry by simply setting up the module and name, pretty sweet. If you have any question on this software don’t hesitate to ask Fabian directly, he’s very quick to reply, email him at fabian.heuwieser@gmx.de

PS. A little birdy told me he’s developing a super cool version of Memos that let’s you take instant notes, I’ll keep you posted.

Two enthusiastic thumbs up for LaunchPads

AlertMatrix from RexWireless its so worth it !!!

May 29th, 2008 by Jorge Ledesma

Worth every penny guys ! If email is inundating you to death and you have to constantly be looking at your bb, that’s me, keeping track of important SMS and PIN, that’s me, and that missed call you wish you were reminded for later,  that’s me, then don’t even think about it twice, its going to be money well spent.  TransformationYou’re not that dependent on the blackberry anymore, its super liberating, you could actually put it down on your night stand and not have to worry about it, unless you want or an alert comes in, lol I’m going to give it ” two enthusiastic thumbs up “ Good work RexWireless, keep it coming, and a special thanks to Bob !

AlertMatrix, direct from Crackberry.com here it is, this is going to be way cool

May 21st, 2008 by Jorge Ledesma

AlertMatrix
REXwireless has some great apps for BlackBerry users in ToDoMatrix, IdeaMatrix, ReferenceMatrix and KnowledgeMatrix, but what really caught my attention this year was a new application they are soon going to release called AlertMatrix. AlertMatrix is a flexible, rules-based communications filtering and alerts application that tightly integrates into your BlackBerry’s OS. It’s brilliant. If you’re the kind of guy who gets 400 emails a day on your BlackBerry while wearing it at the hip or in your pocket, there’s currently no real way to prioritize those messages. If your profiles are set to Quiet you miss them all, and if they’re set to Normal or Loud your BlackBerry buzzes or beeps 400 times a day and it drives you nuts and causes CrackBerry-induced ADD. AlertMatrix allows you to override the default profiles. Are there only 5 people who you really need to check/respond to their messages immediately? Set your BlackBerry to silent, setup a rule for your 5 VIPs, and instead of your BlackBerry buzzing 400 times a day it’ll only buzz when your VIPs message you (hopefully that’s a lot less!). The implementation is really well done. There’s more to it than what has been described, but it’s definitely one of those apps that makes you wonder Where Has This App Been All My Life?!

Once again RexWireless has hit the nail on its head, although I personally have not tested it yet, I’m sure the hype is all real, so keep posted.
