Pin to Pin Messaging another great way to communicate
September 6th, 2007 by Jorge Ledesma
I’ve never really been a big PIN user but then again I don’t have anybody to PIN, I was listening to a blackberry podcast in iTunes and it totally transformed my thinking, RIM has made it so easy to use, that I’m willing to go on a limb and say that a large percentage of blackberry users that are not like us crackberries don’t know how to take full advantage of its use.Let’s start be defining what is the infamous PIN. The PIN is the identifiable hexadecimal number that identidies your blackberry on the planet, no two PIN number are the same, so this in and off itself is something special because your blackberry is unique one can say. Now, RIM made it easy to include your pin where you want to use in any native blackberry app eg. Email, Calendar, Task and you know the rest but the cool thing is that for those of you that use TodoMatrix and IdeaMatrix(together they are sold as the Silver Bundle by the folks over at Rex Wireless, a truly superb task manager and with their upcoming release 7D, Gtd will get a lot more interesting) they are able to use the shortcut, what’s the shortcut, its simple just type, mypin, and voila your pin shows up, here is mine, 23e514aa, bingo. The podcast talked about how the people that suffered the tragics events of 911 were able to communicate with the outside world via the Blackberry’s PIN since all the phone lines and cell lines were jammed up and the email server was also clogged but the partitioned portion of the server dedicated to the data portion of PIN messages was ok, so its just another of how the blackberry can be a life saver in a way, I encourage you to try.PS. Here is my pin, 23e514aa, feel free to drop me a message anytime, enjoy
